My Words Will Not Be Silenced: Part 1

You know what happens to people who are silent in the face of oppression?

It builds, slowly at first,

and then faster, like a disease

festering.

My dear, if you keep quiet

You’ll be trampled under the ugly feet of those who take you for granted

Known and unknown.

Speak up. Make your way through the crowds,

Because there is nothing more beautiful than knowing your worth.

There is Grace in words.

There is Grace in the way it drips from the petals of your mouth.

There is no grace in accepting your fate- accepting defeat.

God helps those who help themselves;

After all.

Fatal

You look at it

With deep fondness

There’s an intimacy

Hard for you to confess
When it touches your lips

And you take it inside

Like you’re filling in

A part that is void
Your lips are turning grey

And the skin is losing its charm

Why is it that you can’t leave it

When it causes you the most harm
It’s now a part of you

Which you can’t eschew

Doesn’t it give you chills

Your most beloved

Smoking kills

Fear

I feel the pain

So deep

in my heart

That I fear I will never be rid of it.

And I want

So bad

To be free

That I fear I will never taste freedom.

I see the light

So bright

Far away

That I fear it will never shine upon me.

And I need

A little

Love, maybe some Hope

That I fear will never come my way.

And I cry

Tears of blood

Mayhap cuz I know

My fears are the truth put to fruition
